The Netherlands currently has four centers for pediatric heart surgery, spread over five locations (Rotterdam, Leiden, Amsterdam, Groningen and Utrecht). The operations that are performed here are quite rare and for the quality of the care it is better to concentrate that care at only two locations, the minister believes.
