Yesterday during question time, the Utrecht city council discussed a report of an MBO student who was not welcome at Café de Kneus in Utrecht. The student reported to municipal councilor Hester van Assen (PvdA). She also made reference to Art. 1, the hotline for discrimination. The woman was the only one of her group of friends who was refused entry to the pub because she is an MBO student. Her friends who are in college were allowed to enter. “That was very painful,” Hootsman says. “Those are experiences you wouldn’t wish on anyone, so we certainly took them into consideration.”
