Organizations such as the National Student Union (LSVb) and FNV Young & United have been calling for a national solution for months. The union has many more lawsuits in preparation, as do various law firms. “You start to wonder how many lawsuits the minister has to throw at her ears before the policy is adjusted,” said Yasmin Ait Abderrahman, chairman of FNV Young & United earlier. Whether the policy will be adjusted will therefore soon become clear when the new bill goes to parliament. “Meanwhile, we are still receiving reports from students who can barely keep their heads above water. They desperately need the energy surcharge, but find a rigid government in their path,” says Ait Abderrahman.
