Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement about the ban imposed on the Discord platform last night.
Communication platform called Discord, which has millions of usersofficially requested information (IP address etc. likeMinister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that they had to impose an access ban because they refused to share the platform, and that they did not have the chance to comprehensively inspect every platform serving in Turkey, and that is why they took steps according to the complaints. Regarding this ban, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç said the following from his official X account: he said: “Upon the request of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ankara 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace decided that the social media platform Discord should be banned according to the provisions of Article 8/1 of the Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Publications Made on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed through These Publications. “Due to sufficient suspicion that crimes were committed, it was decided to remove all publications from the content and block access to the specified URL addresses from Turkey. We are determined to protect our youth and children, the guarantee of our future, from harmful, criminal publications on social media and the internet. “We will never allow attempts to shake the foundations of our social structure.”
