Minister of Social Affairs critical of the situation at Bup: “This is not enough”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Social Affairs Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD) reacts strongly to TV4 Nyhetern’s review of the queues for child and youth psychiatry. Region Södermanland is the worst at fulfilling the care guarantee and several of the doctors in the region see an average of one child a day in periods. – I think it sounds completely unreasonable that you can organize your work in such a way, says the Minister of Social Affairs. Many regions of the country do not meet the requirement of an initial visit within 30 days for children seeking help. Region Södermanland is the worst in the class, and in January not even one in ten children received help in time. Social Affairs Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD) believes that more active work is needed from the regions. – This is not enough. The government is now investing a record amount in increasing accessibility to child and youth psychiatry, but then it is also required that the regions deliver better results than so far when it comes to offering help. According to Region Södermanland’s own figures, hundreds of children are currently waiting in line to get help. At the same time, schedules that TV4 Nyheterna has access to show that the doctors in the region receive few patients per day. – You need to change your organization, so that doctors actually see children to a much greater extent than is happening now, says Forssmed. Requires tightening Sofia Mossfeldt, who is the director of operations at child and youth psychiatry in Södermanland, has previously said that they are reviewing the doctors’ schedule, to reduce administration, so that more time can be used for meetings with patients. Something the government demands, which is now investing 530 million in increasing accessibility. – We will follow up on this. If there are no improvements, the regions will not receive this money either. It is very clear that these are the requirements that apply when we now make this investment, says Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed.
