The Minister of Infrastructure Andreas Carlson (KD) is notified by the Social Democrats.
The reason is that the winter has been unusually chaotic on Sweden’s roads and railways and that the infrastructure minister has been “invisible”.
– I think that almost every single person has an opinion on the infrastructure right now, says Gunilla Svantorp (S), traffic policy spokesperson.
For over a day, trucks and cars were stuck in the snowdrifts on the E22. A hectic rescue work was underway to free the approximately 1,000 vehicles that were standing still in the monster queue between Hörby and Kristianstad. The Swedish Transport Administration has been criticized for its actions during the chaos, and now infrastructure minister Andreas Carlson (KD), from the Social Democrats, is being reported to the University of Copenhagen.
– He has been invisible. We want to know if any action has been taken. We wonder if the group for strategic collaboration has been convened and what did they come up with? Who has taken political responsibility during this chaos?
– It’s not about him going out and participating in the snow removal, but it’s about him making sure that the authorities coordinate and that you have control of the situation.
The Social Democrats have also requested a special debate due to an unusually messy winter in traffic.
– I think it has been unusually chaotic when 1,000 cars are stuck for many hours in snow chaos, and no one makes the right decision, says Gunilla Svantorp (S), traffic policy spokesperson.
Many canceled trains
Svanstorp also believes that an unusually large number of trains have been canceled during the winter.
– I think that almost every single person has views on the infrastructure right now. Regardless of whether they travel by train, subway or car. We need to discuss what is the difference this winter compared to other winters.
On Thursday, TV4 Nyheterna was able to reveal that Trafikverket’s director general Robert Maiorana only participated in one phone call during the first crisis of the day – despite the fact that he claims he was working remotely from his country location. Gunilla Svanstorp has seen the revelation and welcomes Maiorana to the traffic committee.
– It would be good if the Swedish Transport Administration comes to us in the traffic committee so that we can ask the questions we have. But we want to stress that the government has responsibility for its authorities and therefore we want to be able to ask questions to the Prime Minister, says Gunilla Svantorp (S), spokesperson for traffic policy.
Robert Maiorana was appointed as director general on March 1, 2022, by the previous S government.
TV4 Nyheterna is looking for the infrastructure minister Andreas Carlson (KD).
