Minister of Health Memisoglu introduced the Productive Health Model

The “Productive Health” Themed Promotion Meeting and Productive Health Collaborations Protocol Ceremony, from Idea to Product, organized by the Ministry of Health and TÜSEB, was held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the TR Ministry of Health Bilkent Campus.

Minister of Health Prof. in the organization organized to encourage innovative approaches and productivity in health. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu made the opening speech.

Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu included the following in his speech:

WE SET AN EXAMPLE TO THE WHOLE WORLD WITH OUR HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE

“Since 2002, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we have made a great change and development in our health system. We implemented the Health Transformation Program with the AK Party governments.

During the pandemic period, healthcare services were interrupted in developed countries. But during the same period, we provided our health services to all our citizens without interruption, and became one of the few states that extended a helping hand to countries in need.

We experienced the importance of our strong health infrastructure during the global COVID-19 epidemic crisis and the Disaster of the Century, February 6 earthquakes, and set an example for the whole world. “Now we are taking another step in the field of health.”

ONE OF THE MAIN TITLES OF THE NEW ERA: PRODUCTIVE HEALTH MODEL

“Again, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we are implementing the ‘Healthy Türkiye Century Program’ with the Health Model that Protects, Develops and Produces in the coming period.

Today, we have come together to launch the Productive Health Model, one of the main topics of this new era we have initiated.

We realize our new vision through our Turkish Health Institutes Directorate, TUSEB, and build an ecosystem that goes from ‘idea to product’. We aim for this ecosystem to be the carrier of our national health technology move.

We see our Productive Health Model as an important step in which we create a brand and added value in the field of health, contribute to the economic growth and development of our country, meet our own needs, and export technology and products to the world.

While taking this step, we fully trust Turkey’s manpower and experience, the knowledge of our academics, the production capacity and entrepreneurship of our industrialists, and the encouraging role of our State and Ministry.

Thank you, the presence of our Minister of Industry and Technology, Deputy Minister of Trade, Presidential Policy Board members, esteemed Rectors, sector representatives and you here gives us strength and motivation. “I would like to especially thank you all on behalf of our big healthcare family.”

WE PROVIDE INFORMATION, EXPERIENCE AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

“So, how does our Productive Health Model work?

We bring together our universities and private sector with our triple helix model under the leadership of our Turkish Health Institutes, TÜSEB.

We strongly involve our healthcare professionals, especially our physicians, in this process. It plans R&D and production processes; We provide knowledge, experience and financial support.

To this end, we are taking our first important step by establishing Technology Transfer Offices in our City Hospitals, starting with Etlik, Bilkent and Çam Sakura.

In this way, we position our healthcare professionals, especially our physicians, who are involved in the practice and know the needs best, at the center of the Productive Health ecosystem.

We offer all kinds of contributions, from patents to legal assistance, from R&D to financial support, to every healthcare worker who knocks on our door with a new idea. We bring them together with industrialists and manufacturers.

Now, instead of waiting for our industrialists to knock on our door, we go and visit them in their production facilities. “We see the production capacities of our industrialists on site and plan what steps we will take together.”

I WANT TO GIVE YOU GOOD NEWS

“We are carrying out another important study here: We studied the medical devices and drugs that our country currently has to import, one by one, which we procured in the highest quantities and at the highest prices.

Our goal is to minimize our country’s foreign dependency in the field of health by making the right matches and ensuring TÜSEB, university and industry meetings as soon as possible.

In this context, we support diagnosis and diagnostic products, medical devices, vaccine and drug development projects. In this context, we are doubling the R&D support we provide in 2025.

We have more than tripled the number of samples in our genome center, which is of great importance in the diagnosis of rare diseases, in the last two months. In this way, we can diagnose rare genetic diseases that cannot be diagnosed.

Within the scope of the Turkish National Genome Project, we are developing a unifying system in our country regarding access to gene therapies, especially cancer and rare diseases, development of new treatment methods and qualified human resources.

Again, we share the great health data we have with our scientific world. In this way, we aim to ensure that these data serve the development of health technologies and new products and that our domestic IT sector becomes an active force in international competition.

Our Productive Health Model will hopefully be the locomotive of our National Health Technology Move. Our Productive Health Model will take our country’s competence and sustainability in the field of health to the highest level.

As I conclude my words, I would like to give you good news as one of the first steps of our Productive Health Model: The provision of health services to be covered by the social security institution in scientific studies supported by TÜSEB has been accepted in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly as of yesterday. At this point, we would like to express our gratitude to our Ministry of Treasury and Finance, our Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Health, Family, Labor and Social Affairs Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and our esteemed Members of Parliament for their efforts.

I hope that our Productive Health Model will bring goodness to our country and nation, I salute you all with respect and entrust you to God.”

Dr. In addition to Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Health and Food Policies Board Prof. Dr. Serkan Topaloğlu and TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan made the opening speeches.
