(Finance) – During the recent Automotive table at Mimitthe Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Ursoannounced important developments in the automotive sector. The minister began by saying: “We have succeeded inaim to safeguard the production site and the Marelli workers at the Crevalcore plant. Tomorrow I will finalize the instrument that will allow the handover to the new industrial partner”. This operation follows other similar actions, such as those for Wartsila and Whirlpool Emea, demonstrating the effectiveness of the system approach adopted by the ministry.

Urso underlined the absence of closures of productive activities in the crisis tables managed by his department, also mentioning solutions for prolonged crises such as those of Terms Imerese and Piombino. However, not all the news is positive. The Minister revealed that, despite the boost of the ecobonus, the increase in production volumes hoped for for models such as the Panda in Pomigliano and the electric 500 in Mirafiori has not materialised. In fact, Stellantis has announced the interruption of activities at Mirafiori and redundancy payments also at Pomigliano due to lack of orders.

Although the first four objectives of the Ecobonus were satisfactory, the fifth — the increase in production — was disappointing. In response, Urso proposed a Review of the incentive plan: “If we had not achieved the goal of increasing production in Italy with this incentive plan, we would have moved the resources, or part of them, directly to the supply side.”

The minister also touched on the issue of international cooperationmentioning meetings with Chinese car manufacturers and joint production projects in Italy, as a sign of the strong attractiveness of the Italian automotive sector for foreign investors.

The ministry’s next moves will include discussions on a multi-annual programming of resourceswhile waiting to know the guidelines of the new European Commission, for an approach that promises to be as ambitious as it is necessary to relaunch the sector with a view to sustainability and innovation.
