Minister of Culture after the award ceremony in Cannes: “Extremely proud”

Minister of Culture after the award ceremony in Cannes Extremely

The Minister of Culture writes that she now longs to see Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness” and the other Swedish winners at the festival in Cannes.

“This is truly a golden age for Swedish film. Östlund won the Palme d’Or, Saleh won the best screenplay and Thyberg won the Women in Motion Young Talent Award. As Minister of Culture and film lover, I am extremely proud. Now I just long to see the movies! ”

The Swedish Film Institute’s CEO Anette Novak agrees with the tributes.

– It is absolutely fantastic, what an evening for Swedish film. The Cannes Film Festival is like the World Cup in film, and we are incredibly proud.

Now Ruben Östlund qualifies as one of the few who has won the Palme d’Or twice. Sweden will thus also be the only country in the world with two directors who have won the prestigious award twice – the other is director Alf Sjöberg.

– This will give fame and glory. We now have an icon that can arouse interest in children and young people who can become the next generation of filmmakers, says Anette Novak.

– Interest in Swedish film will increase. I think this will have a long-term effect, it is my faith and hope, she says.

Anette Novak compares Ruben Östlund with Ingmar Bergman who still touches internationally. She says that two golden palms will attract enormous international attention.

– This can reassure many Swedish directors at a time when they are worried about the supply of skills.

Carolina Gynning plays the role of Ludmilla in “Triangle of Sadness”. On Instagram, she thanks for having participated in the film.

What a success! Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of this magical project !!! ”, Gynning writes in a post.
