Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu evaluated the “Turkish Electronic Communications Industry Quarterly Market Data Report” for the 4th quarter of 2022. Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of mobile subscribers reached 90.3 million by the end of 2022, and said, “The prevalence of mobile subscribers was 105.9 percent. 82.9 million of mobile subscribers preferred 4.5G subscription, which started service in 2016. The number of M2M subscribers reached 8.1 million and grew by 8.7 percent on an annual basis. The total number of mobile numbers ported exceeded 167.2 million by the end of 2022. The number of mobile numbers ported in 2022 was 9 “It’s close to 0.6 million,” he said.
‘FIBER INTERNET SUBSCRIBER NUMBER INCREASED TO 5.7 MILLION’
Karaismailoğlu stated that the total number of broadband internet subscribers, 71.7 million of which is mobile, increased by 2.5 million in a year to 90.6 million. Stating that the fiber infrastructure increased by 9.8% and the number of fiber internet subscribers increased by 17.8%, Karaismailoğlu said, “While the average monthly data usage of fixed broadband subscribers was 204 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2021, this figure increased to 243 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2022, and in the last quarter of 2021, this figure increased to 243 gigabytes for mobile subscribers. It was seen that the data usage, which was 11 gigabytes in the 4th quarter of the year, reached 14.8 gigabytes. In the whole of 2022, we used 65 billion 256 million gigabytes of internet.
Stating that a total of 319.6 billion minutes of phone calls were made, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that 98.5 percent of them were started from mobile networks, and as of the last quarter of the year, the average monthly usage time in mobile networks was 549 minutes. (DHA)
