Mini Sparrow in Destiny 2 performs cart moves – reminiscent of the most famous racing game

Destiny 2 is currently celebrating the 2022 Solstice. But while some of the Guardians are still stoking the campfire in the European Air Zone, others have already discovered what is probably the hottest go-kart of the event. This new Mini Sparrow is not only reminiscent of the racing game “Mario Kart” – it can also do its own moves. MeinMMO has done a round for you and reveals its hidden gimmick.

Which Mini Sparrow is it? The new Sparrow is exotic, calls itself “Quadrarad” and belongs to the Destiny 2 means of transport in the category of the so-called “Mini-Sparrows”. It was introduced with the Solstice 2022 event. At first glance, only the chic mini-kart design was cool. But there’s more to it than that.

When the keepers were able to try out the Mini-Sparrow themselves, the little runabout revealed nostalgic effects from the probably best-known racing game Mario Kart and a little extra gimmick.

  • For example, “Quadrarad” emits a shower of sparks during sharp left or right turns.
  • And to make the effect even more authentic, the little Sparrow sometimes throws green or red “ghost” projectiles while driving.
  • In the video, Krypz shows you how cool the racer is in the game:

The new Mario Kart Sparrow is so cool.

What do the players say about the new speedster? The community is surprised that little Sparrow has so much more to offer. In the preview of the collection, where you can click through all Destiny 2 items without owning them yourself, the little event sparrow actually looks quite inconspicuous.

The keeper Scraub also had this impression and commented under the YouTube video:

I had the impression, [der Mini-Sparrow] had sparks when I saw him clicking through the collection. Didn’t expect little ghost shells to fall though. This is insanely cool and I’ll definitely be picking it up when it becomes available for Bright Dust.

Otherwise, what is probably the broadest group of guardians in Destiny 2 was particularly enthusiastic about the new vehicle. Titan player SoraxStacy147 euphorically commented:

Having the fanciest Titan ride a mini Sparrow is really what Destiny is all about…! Oh, what is that, something with darkness? Nooo! Look at my titan: WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!!!!

And the player Frostfang Piglet even thinks that these little Sparrows “[…] get even better if titans […] they use”. Presumably alluding to the fact that the additional weight of the mighty shoulder pads gives the stylish runabout much better traction and allows it to be steered more smoothly. So if you’re lucky, you’ll soon be able to spot a couple of Titans on their new mini-vehicle in the game.

Sparrow racing has been popular with many Guardians in Destiny – as has horns!

Is Sparrow Racing League coming back soon?

However, the sight of the new little mini-kart racer awakened an old longing for the “SRL”, the abbreviation of the “Sparrow Racing League”, for many of the veterans of the Guardian. Because it was like Mario Kart back then, just in Destiny.

  • Instead of driving (or rather hovering) in a civilized manner, people pushed and pushed.
  • There were jump ramps and acceleration zones on the routes.
  • Meanly placed obstacles and opponents, such as the Vex and nasty cabal, also made the routes unsafe.
  • And now there’s this mini kart sparrow that would be almost perfect for the racing league.
  • No hope in sight for SRL: Since Season 9, many Guardians have been eagerly waiting for Bungie to fulfill their hope at some point in a new season or during an event.

Unfortunately, nothing is officially known to this day as to whether it will ever celebrate its return to the Destiny universe. That’s what the SRL says, just like the badly missed Sparrow horns: Hope dies last.

At least the guardians can continue to expand their personal Sparrow collection until the time comes:

From the flying toaster to the witch’s broom – the 9 coolest space mopeds from Destiny 2

The “Mini Racer” will soon be available for Bright Dust

You want that Mario Kart feeling? Then you should still log into Destiny 2 during the 2022 Solstice event.

Tess Eververse will also sell you the speedster for Bright Dust.
  • The Mini-Sparrow “Quadrarad” is only available during the 2022 Solstice event.
  • If you don’t want to wait, you can buy it right away from the Eververse Shop for 800 Silver, Destiny 2’s real-world currency.
  • However, Guardians who prefer to use the in-game currency Bright Dust for the purchase should make a note of August 9th, 2022. From then on, after the weekly reset at 7 p.m., the Mini Sparrow will be available exclusively for 2500 Bright Dust in Eververse for a week.
  • No more shine dust? A good source of Bright Dust are the weekly challenges. There, Bungie has several Bright Dust packages ready for you. Otherwise, use the additional bounties on Zavala, Lord Shaxx, and the Drifter to replenish your Bright Dust cushion.

What do you think of the new Sparrow? Did you know about its hidden properties or are you taking a closer look now? Do you also believe that this “Mario Kart Sparrow” might be a hidden reference to the return of the Sparrow Racing League in Destiny 2? Write your opinion about it in our comments.
