Called Mini Recharged, this factory conversion program replaces the combustion engine of a classic Mini with a 122 hp electric motor. The intervention is intended to be minimalist and totally reversible so as not to compromise the rating of these collector’s models.

In a process ofcircular economy, Mini unveils its own program of retrofit of its former models: Mini Recharged. This consists of electrifying your old vehicle to thermal motor. The exterior appearance of the vehicle is in no way altered. The goal is obviously to be able to keep the unique feeling of driving a Mini, but without the slightest episode of CO2.
Propulsion will then be provided by an electric motor capable of reaching 90 kW (the equivalent of 122 hp), accompanied by a battery. high tension granting a range of approximately 160 kilometres. With a car thus modified, the happy owners of Mini Classic will be able to continue driving with it, including in the so-called low-emission driving zones of many large cities, reserved for the least polluting vehicles.
What about the price of this retrofit?
For the moment, this service is only offered in the United Kingdom and those who wish can also directly choose to buy a Mini Cooper SE 100% electric, listed in the catalog of the British manufacturer (now attached to the group BMW) since 2020.
In France, since 2020, it is completely legal to electrify your car. In principle, all thermal models over 5 years old are eligible, cars of course, but also utility vehicles, trucks or buses. The operation consists of switching from a conventional thermal engine to an all-electric unit, all powered, as desired, by a battery or by a Fuel cell.
