Susanne Yakes and Aneta Demir have been close friends for a long time. They have also each lost a relative in two of the most high-profile murders in Sweden in recent times.
In the news documentary “Slumpens offer” on TV4 Play, they tell how they are each other’s support after the murders of Adriana in 2020 and Mikael Janicki in 2024.
– It’s hard to accept that it also happened to her, that she had to experience this too, says Susanne Yakes.
TV4 meets the women at Adriana’s grave, where the 12-year-old girl who fell victim to gang criminals’ automatic fire in southern Stockholm in 2020 lies. Now Susanne Yake’s support is for her friend Aneta Demir. Aneta lost her brother, Mikael Janicki, when he was shot dead in an underpass in Skärholmen in April 2024.
– She knows how I feel and when I think things are getting too much or when you want to be alone. She has gone through a hell that she still lives in, says Aneta Demir.
– We both have to learn to live with it.
Have supported each other
When Aneta in an attention-grabbing clip was upset with Magdalena Andersson during a visit to Mikael’s murder scene, Susanne was there. And when Susanne participated in an election debate in 2022 to talk about her daughter Adriana, Aneta was by her side.
– I sort of stood with my hands tied behind my back and she held my hand. It felt very safe to have her with me, says Susanne Yakes.
The shock and crisis that hit Susanne gave her lessons that she now uses to give her friend the same support that she received from Aneta then.
– You could sort of go in and out of grief when you were with her. I thought she was such a huge support for me, says Susanne Yakes.
The murder of Mikael Janicki is still unsolved and no shooter has been caught. He appears to have been shot because he told a youth gang he thought their behavior was unacceptable.
