Mojang Studios have announced a visual upgrading for Minecraft (PC, Xbox One, PS4, every conceivable platform in the world). On March 22nd at Minecraft Live, they explained their vision for the game: the Vibrant Visuals.
That is the situation with the graphic at Minecraft: Minecraft’s graphics have been largely unchanged since the start of the early access in 2009. Some improvements came before the release of the Java Edition in November 2011.
Many players use shaders or textures themselves to put up with the game. There is an active community.
But now Mojang begins an offensive to improve the graphic without changing anything on the gameplay. The project, which is supposed to run in several steps, is called “Vibrant Visuals.”

“A new look that remains true to the creative principles”
That is the idea behind Vibrant Visuals: In a video that takes about four and a half minutes, 2 developers present the first changes: Jasper Boerstra (Art Director) and Jens Bergenste (Chief Creative Officer).
Mojang wants to introduce a new look for Minecraft, but at the same time remain true to the creative principles that you follow:
Everyone should be able to decide whether they use the better graphic
This is how it should work: The idea is that you can decide for yourself whether you activate “vibrant visuals” as a setting. But you will also be able to play together with players who prefer the old look.
The developers say: It will be possible to go to old worlds, to activate the new graphics and to look at the world in a new guise.
When should that come? With a specific update for the visual improvements, the developers are still vague. One emphasizes that Vibrant Visuals should now be the first step in a long way.
The improvement has been announced for a period of “in the next few months”. The improvement should not come straight for the Java version, but at first it is a threat update.
Minecraft players react friendly to euphoric to the announcement of the new graphic
How are the reaction? The video in which you have presented the change is well received. The new light effects and the shadows are praised.
A user on YouTube even cheers: “Minecraft 2 is finally here.”
Another user says: “It looks absolutely great. I don’t want to put down the shader community, but this is my new darling.” Everything would look fantastic.
On Reddit, a user explains: For hardcore players who use mods anyway, such an upgrade is one thing. But such an upgrade is even more important for the many players who play without mods and “vanilla”.
Doubts about when the new graphic comes to Minecraft
Are there also critical comments? One player unknown: “At the pace at which you get updates, we should expect the update 2028.”
However, optimists believe that the update can be expected in May 2025.
For an actual Minecraft 2, we will probably be able to wait longer than 2028, even if there was a little relaxed, flocked announcements: Notch announces Minecraft 2 and all are wondering whether this will ever be
