167,000 people applied for compensation for late or canceled trains between January and July this year.
– We are not satisfied, because it shows how hard our travelers are affected, who need reliable traffic when they commute to work and study, says Katarina Myrberg, press officer at Mälardalstrafik.
A total of SEK 16.8 million was paid out in compensation during the period. Around 90 percent of those who apply for compensation are granted it, says Katarina Myrberg.
– The figures for delay compensation apply to all our lines, from Gävle in the north to Linköping in the south. Not just Sörmland.
Autumn and winter can be like that
Katarina Myrberg points out that the railway still has many faults, but says that Mälardalstrafik is working to improve the situation with delays.
– We influence what we can influence, with personnel, good maintenance of the vehicles, and that we make preparations in our depot. It’s about everything from the fact that we have more vehicle technicians in the depot to the fact that we have a greater capacity to turn wheels that get worn during the winter, we also have a large spare parts warehouse, she says.
