After the beggar’s death, his two siblings found millions of Iraqi dinars and gold in bags at the house they went to get their sister’s ID. When the brothers were caught by the neighborhood headman while loading the money and gold belonging to their sister into the car, the police were called to the scene. Muhammed Salih Mehdi, one of the police officers who participated in the search at the beggar’s house, said in his statement: “The platoon officer called me and reported a death in the al-Kadhimiye area. When we arrived at the scene, a man and a woman who came to look for the identity of the dead beggar were taking money out of a house. “Police teams immediately went to the scene and saw that the beggar was carrying the money he had hidden in sacks to the car,” he said.

Police Abdulcebbar Salih said, “We received a report that there was a fight. When we arrived at the scene, there was no fight, but we saw two people carrying sacks full of money from a house to their car. We immediately detained these two people. We immediately called the center and said that there was no fight there, but sacks full of large amounts of money were taken out of a house by two people. “The center asked us to stay at the scene and we handed over all the money found there,” he said.
