During a house search of the murdered man, the police found hundreds of thousands of kroner and gold items worth millions, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
The police have an increased presence in Rinkeby.
– What consequences this fatal shooting has for the area remains to be seen, says local police area chief Anders Djurestad.
On Christmas Day, a man in his 30s was shot to death in Rinkeby.
The man belonged to the criminal network Death Patrol and was convicted of several serious crimes, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
He was also reasonably suspected of having tricked 19-year-old rapper Nils “Einár” Grönberg to the place where he was murdered.
The police investigation continues and the presence in the area is reinforced – especially on Tuesday when a memorial service is planned for the man in Rinkeby.
He set the tone in the area, says Järva’s acting local police area chief Anders Djurestad.
– This man has been known in the area and also to us, he says and continues.
– We already have a lot of investigative activity in the area but will be present today at the memorial without disturbing and creating calm in the area. In terms of retaliation, there is little risk of anything happening.
Millions seized
A house search has been carried out at the man’s home address in connection with the shooting in Rinkeby, the police say.
According to Aftonbladet’s information, hundreds of thousands of kroner in cash and gold goods worth millions have been found. Everything must have been confiscated and a report of money laundering drawn up, with the murdered person as a suspect.
– In connection with serious crimes, we very often carry out several house searches. What we find is not something we comment on, but it is always something interesting, says Mats Eriksson at the Stockholm Police.
Killer on the loose
The police do not yet have a suspect in the fatal shooting and no one has been arrested. Door knocking and review of video footage continues.
The fatal shooting was the 62nd in Sweden this year – but in the area there have been fewer in 2022, says Anders Djurestad.
– Before this shooting, we had two murders this year. What consequences this fatal shooting has for the area remains to be seen. We do not yet know whether it will affect developments in the gang criminal environment.
How big a risk is there that the fatal shooting leads to revenge actions?
– It affects the area and becomes important with even more presence. We currently assess that the risk of retaliation is low. But fatal shootings tend to lead to just that, says Anders Djurestad.
The police will have increased visibility in the area to carry out checks and to answer questions going forward.
– We must not give up in the fight against gun violence. It is frustrating and sad what has happened.
