Three members of the Kataib Hezbollah militia, including a high-ranking commander, have been killed in a US drone strike in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, sources told the AP. The US military confirms that it carried out the attack.
The attack comes just days after the US military launched an airstrike on dozens of locations in Iraq and Syria – in retaliation for a drone strike in late January that killed three US soldiers.
US forces “killed a Kataib Hezbollah commander responsible for directly planning and participating in attacks against US forces in the region”, writes Centcom, US operational headquarters for, among other things, the Middle East, on X (formerly Twitter).
