Military aid to Ukraine from the USA France and Italy

The United States has announced that it will provide Ukraine with an additional $2,175 billion in military aid, including land-launched long-range rockets.

US President Joe Biden, in the circular issued on his authorization to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that he approved the delivery of 425 million dollars of equipment, weapons and ammunition to Ukraine in the inventory of the American army.

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that in addition to the aforementioned assistance from the army inventory, 1.75 billion dollars will be provided to this country within the scope of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) fund, which is provided as required by law.

The Pentagon shared the statement with the press, which includes the details of two separate aid packages with a total of 2 billion 175 million dollars.

In the statement, the weapons, ammunition and equipment to be given from the US inventory were listed as follows:

“Additional ammunition for High Performance Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); 155 mm artillery shells; 120 mm mortars; 190 heavy machine guns with thermal image sights to counter unmanned aerial vehicles; 181 Mine-Protected Ambush Protection (MRAP) vehicles; 250 Javelin armor-piercing missile, 2,000 armor-piercing rockets; Claymore mines, demolition munitions; cold weather gear, helmets and other field equipment.”

LONG RANGE MISSILES ALSO IN THE PACKAGE

On the other hand, in the list published by the Pentagon, it was also seen that within the scope of USAI, long-range, precision-guided, rocket-powered ammunition with a range of 150 kilometers, also known as the Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) Launched from the Land, will be delivered to Ukraine.

The longest-range rockets currently in Ukraine’s hands have a range of 75 kilometers.

Other weapons and ammunition that the Pentagon will give to Ukraine within the scope of USAI are listed as follows:

“2 HAWK air defense firing units, anti-aircraft guns and ammunition; equipment to integrate western air defense launchers, missiles and radars with Ukraine’s air defense systems; equipment for maintaining Ukraine’s existing air defense capabilities; air defense systems generators; drone countermeasure systems; 4 air surveillance radars; 20 mortar tracking radars; spare parts for radars used to counter artillery fire; Puma Unmanned Aerial Systems; secure communication equipment; medical supplies; funding for education, care and maintenance.”

With this aid package, the United States has provided $32 billion in military aid to Ukraine since 2014.

$30 billion of that has been made since President Biden took office on January 20, 2021.

FRANCE AND ITALY

France and Italy have completed negotiations to send the SAMP/T – MAMBA long-range air defense system to Ukraine.

In a written statement made by the French Ministry of Defense, it was reported that French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu and Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto had a telephone conversation.

In the statement, it was stated that during the meeting, the two discussed their military support to Ukraine and concluded the talks to send the SAMP/T – MAMBA air defense system to Ukraine in the spring of 2023.

In the statement, it was stated that SAMP/T – MAMBA is the first European long air defense system, and this air defense system will cover a significant part of Ukraine’s territory and will provide defense against Ukraine’s Russian UAVs, missiles and planes.

In the statement, it was noted that the Defense Ministers of France and Italy renewed their determination to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against Russia. (AA)
