An armed group attacked a police convoy in Punjab province on Thursday.
An armed group in Pakistan has killed at least 11 police officers and wounded several others in the eastern province of Punjab.
In the attack against the police convoy patrolling the area, rocket launchers were used, among other things, the authorities of the area say.
Attacks by militant groups have increased in Pakistan in recent years. However, the attack that took place on Thursday and the resulting high number of victims is exceptional.
The country’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack in a statement on Thursday, describing the slain policemen as martyrs.
