It’s been busy with Milestone, which has just announced a new game, just two weeks after the reveal of MotoGP 23. It’s about RIDE 5, the other moto-racing series from the Italian studio, which will be back August 24, 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. A full next gen development that promises a technique up to par, but that the first trailer immediately contradicts, since we don’t really have the impression that the game has much graphically evolved since the last episode. The novelties will be elsewhere, in particular in the content, with a Career mode which will introduce for the first time a narrator, responsible for guiding the player, but also for presenting each new event. Obviously, said like that, it’s not a revolution for classic racing games, but for RIDE, it’s a great first. We also learn that 10 rivals, each with their own personality, story and appearance, will spice up the Career mode. Moreover, the game promises a number of challenges before reaching the top of the rankings, including more than 200 playable events.
The game will also take advantage of the “Rewind” function already present in many racing games, specifically in the “Endurance” modes. The game will also be able to count on the “Single race” and “Time trial” modes to train with the different types of vehicles and improve its travel times, but also its performance. Still on the news, know that RIDE 5 will offer a dynamic weather system, capable of calculating in real time the temperature of the circuit and the air in order to generate realistic climatic changes during the races. That’s enough to add a little more strategy in the races, but we wait to check that controller in hand before popping the champagne. Milestone also lets us know that the sky system has also been modified, moving from 2D technology based on real photos to volumetric 3D cloud technology, in order to offer an even more realistic and above all more immersive rendering.
Other good news, RIDE 5 will be cross-play compatible, but also playable in split screen to ensure local games, which had disappeared for a few years, since RIDE 2 to tell the truth. And for the creatives, it has been confirmed that it will be possible to create your own races yourself, by imagining scenarios in addition. Everything will be customizable in the races and the championship, with the choice of motorcycle categories, the dosage of the opponents’ AI, shaping its circuits, creating new liveries for example, and even imposing its own rules and system. of scoring. That’s a lot of information, but it was very interesting.
The release of RIDE 5 is expected for August 24th.
