Milan, new Amsa contract: +40% cleaning frequencies, 300 new vehicles

Milan new Amsa contract 40 cleaning frequencies 300 new vehicles

(Finance) – A meeting was held today between the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the CEO of A2A Renato Mazzoncini and the CEO of Amsa Marcello Milani to present the main innovations of the new Service Contract between the company
A2A Group and the Municipality of Milan.

Following the administration’s objectives of improving both the quality standards of decorum, cleanliness and care of the city, and of increasing separate waste collection, the new contract provides for a 40% increase in cleaning frequencieswith almost 13 thousand kilometers served per week (over 3 thousand additional km). In particular, the global sweeping service is extended – the cleaning and washing of streets and pavements without the need to remove vehicles – thanks to the use of the Sweepy-Jet system. This technology, patented by Amsa, uses a high-pressure water lance that allows you to clean under parked cars, further reducing parking restrictions by 30% and thus freeing up around 40 km of road.

Enhanced the garrison of the “neighborhood street cleaner” with over 100 teams in the area six days a week and cleaning in city parks, in areas dedicated to children – with vehicles equipped with a pressure washer and washing of toys – and in dog areas. Furthermore, the frequency of emptying of street bins (+66%).

At the center of the plan also the renewal of the vehicle fleet, with an investment of over 75 million euro in the three-year period 2023-2025, which will see the introduction of over 300 vehicles in 2025, thus reaching a replacement rate of 40% in the period 2023-2025. In particular, new vehicles equipped with the “glass noise” technology developed by A2A, which allows the acoustic impact of glass collection to be halved.

Innovation and sustainability meet in Amsaplan, the app developed by the company to digitize and simplify the work of ecological operators. Thanks to this platform, all operational activities, from vehicle checks to end-of-work reports, are managed in real time, optimizing processes. Finally, to respond more effectively to citizens, the contact center service has been strengthened.

“The new contract follows the objectives that the Municipality of Milan has set itself, already set in the tender notice, in terms of cleanliness, care and attention towards our city – said theCouncilor for the Environment and Greenery Elena Grandi –. We wanted to strengthen the service by also adapting it to the new needs of the city, which is increasingly experienced in its external spaces by citizens, tourists and
‘city users’. We are sure that the impact on the territory will also be positive in terms of the circular economy and separate waste collection, which we aim to grow even more in the coming years.”

“Through continuous dialogue with institutions and citizens, we have worked on an integrated waste management model to meet the needs of a city in constant transformation, strengthening local activities and adopting innovative technologies – he declared Marcello Milani, CEO of Amsa –. The new contract provides for a 40% increase in street cleaning and sweeping frequencies. We are also renewing the company fleet: 300 new vehicles will be available by the end of the year. A concrete commitment to make Milan increasingly sustainable and future-oriented.”
