Mikko Rantanen, Justus Annunen and Kaapo Kakko were the hottest Finnish names in the night’s NHL round. A touching moment was recorded from Rantase. Kako’s smile attracted attention.
Ice hockey league in the night round of the NHL Mikko Rantanen already showed a great eye for the game before the meeting with Ottawa. Rantanen’s team Colorado Avalanche and the NHL posted on their Instagram account the videohow the Finnish star made a 5-year-old fan’s wish come true.
In the warm-up, a young boy holds a sign asking Colorado players for a stick or a puck in honor of his 5th birthday. In addition to the photo, the update includes a video in which Rantanen flips the puck overboard to a young fan.
– You got a puck from a player you love, the 5-year-old boy is told.
In the update itself, the NHL and the Colorado Avalanche also summed up the rowdy atmosphere in one sentence.
– There is nothing better than getting what you wish for on your birthday, the text of the update read.

Rantanen was effective in the match itself, when Colorado beat Ottawa with a score of 7–4. Rantanen scored two goals for Colorado.
Colorado was already two goals behind Ottawa in the second period, but Rantanen brought his team one goal behind. Already in the opening set, the Finnish star had hit once. Rantanen was chosen as the second star in the match for providing three goal assists by Samuel Girard after.
Annunen was saving Colorado
Colorado’s goal made a save Justus Annunen. He was named to the NHL team on Tuesday. Annunen made a save for the first time in the NHL this season. For Annus, the match was the fifth overall in his NHL career.
Annunen made 36 saves in the match. At the end of the second period, the Finnish goalkeeper saved his team no less than three times from a setback, when Colorado messed with superiority. At that point, Ottawa was still leading the match with a goal.
– I just tried to fight and trusted that the guys would score more goals. The NHL is a completely different game. I hope I get to play a couple more games and get used to the tempo, Annunen told the local media after the game.
Beared the biggest responsibility in the Colorado goal this season Alexander Georgiev was completely busy. Served as the second goalkeeper earlier this season Ivan Prosvetov was in the Ottawa game as a goalkeeper.
– We need to find someone who is quality in goal. Whether it’s Prosvetov, Annunen or someone else, someone has to step up and give us a good chance to win when Georgiev rests. He needs to rest sometimes. I didn’t want Georgiev to even think about hockey today. That’s why the others were in the lineup, Colorado’s head coach Jared Bednar said, referring to how Colorado had already played against Montreal the night before.
The Swedish star paid attention to Kako’s wide smile
The third interesting Finnish name of the night was the New York Rangers Kaapo Kako. He was sidelined for 21 games with a lower extremity injury, but returned to NHL action Sunday for the first time since late November. Now Kakko succeeded immediately in the second game after a long absence.
The second shot the puck into the Rangers goal Mika Zibanejadin pass against Seattle. The Swedish star threw a funny remark to the reporters when he was asked about the importance of Kako’s goal.
– His face said a lot when he came to hug after the goal, Zibanejad said after the match.
– When he is away for such a long time and comes back, of course he is excited and wants to make a result on the offensive end. Kaapo was able to do it today. Of course I’m happy for him.
Kakko played in Rangers’ first team again by Chris Kreider and with Zibanejad.
– In the last game, our chain played well, but we couldn’t score goals. Today we managed to score a couple of goals. Of course, this helps with self-confidence, Kakko said.

Dallas’ Roope Hintz also got a taste of a goal from the Finns in the night’s NHL round. He scored Dallas’ opening goal in a 5–1 rout of the Los Angles Kings.
