Mike Pence withdraws his presidential candidacy

Mike Pence was vice president during the time that Donald Trump was in the White House between the years 2017 and 2021. He was governor of Indiana before that.

– After carefully thinking through my decision, I have decided to immediately withdraw my presidential candidacy. I am leaving the campaign, but I will never leave the fight for conservative values, he says during a speech in Las Vegas.

Mike Pence has struggled to raise enough money during his campaign and has struggled to climb public opinion.

– We knew all along that this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets, he says.

He is the first of the better-known Republican candidates to throw in the towel.
