Mikael himself has previously suffered from leukemia, which is blood cancer. But since it is treatable, there is nothing that slows him down too much in everyday life.
– You need to treat at regular intervals, in between I feel fine, he says and explains that the trip is above all dedicated to those who are affected at an earlier stage in life.
A long and rewarding journey
So far this year, Team Rynkeby Stockholm, to which Mikael belongs, has collected just under two million kroner.
– I hope we blow that up soon, he says.
For Mikael, it’s the first time he’s embarked on such an extensive cycling adventure, but with a strong will and some training in the bag, he thinks it will go all the way.
– It may happen that it gets a little heavier later on, day five, six and seven, but so far it has gone great, he says and points out that there may be more, similar trips in the future.
In the video clip above, hear Mikael talk about the training before the trip and about his own cancer diagnosis
