Mikael, 39, was shot dead in Skärholmen – the family about the grief

Flowers and candles have been left in the underpass at Skärholmen center today.

The place where Mikael, 39, was shot dead, in what is described as an execution, in front of his twelve-year-old son.

The father and the child were at around 6 pm yesterday on their way to the bathhouse to swim. They cycled through the underpass and past a youth gang. Then something happened that made Mikael choose to turn back to, in a reprimanding way, tell the young people.

– We don’t know why, but he got upset. He went back to this gang. Then it clicks, says Mikael’s older sister.

– He was just going to go swimming but was supported by these people and went forward.

Sister: It’s so brutal – in front of the son

Mikael’s son witnessed the murder. And it was he who called 112 at the same time as the father was lying lifeless in the underpass.

– It was so brutal, in front of his son. It’s disgusting, I feel sick.

Mikael did not appear in the charge register and was neither a criminal nor had any connections to gang crime.

– It was completely the wrong place. He just approached the wrong people. He thought that there were some snot chicks hanging around and had nothing better to do and was just going to tell them. It was just random. He just approached the wrong people. I don’t know if they were waiting for someone and therefore had a gun.

– I can’t get any thoughts out. I just think it’s unnecessary and just ask myself: Why? Why did you go back? Why couldn’t you just park your bike and go in and screw these snotty kids? And couldn’t they have shot him in the leg or something? Who shoots someone in the face like this in a downtown?

“Mikael was always positive – hated injustice”

Relatives describe Mikael as a person with great legal pathos and someone who was upset about the crime in the area.

– He was very happy, a positive person. He liked people and justice and hated everything like this that happened. He never read about that stuff because it made him feel so bad. So it is so typical of him to speak up when he thinks something is wrong, then he steps forward. I hadn’t, I’d been scared. But he didn’t And now he’s not here, says the sister.

In addition to many Skärholm residents, the sister also went to the underpass to gather at the murder scene.

– We are trying to get a picture of the incident and where he was shot and are just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Because it feels so unreal. Although it is still real. We just want to meet him. We are so happy that we saw a leaf with a drop of blood on it. We have him with us.

She says that Mikael and the son always carried out outdoor activities together.

– They had a great relationship. Hanging out, going to the swimming pool and other activities.

“Watching his father die in front of his eyes”

The father’s brother-in-law Elias also visited the murder scene on Thursday to light candles by the flowers in the underpass. For TV4 Nyheterna, he talks about the grief and the family’s shock after the shooting.

– He was the happiest person in the world, very social and lived for his son, says Elias.

– All speculation that he might have been a criminal is absolutely not true. He was on his way to the swimming pool with his son, he continues.

He tells us that the son is not feeling well at all.

– I don’t even think he has really taken it in yet. He feels very bad. They must have ruined his life. He has seen his father get shot in the face. He sees his father die in front of his eyes and is forced to call 112.
