The New York Rangers were in trouble – again.
Then Mika Zibanejad stepped forward.
The Swede became a great hero and continues to convince.
Hopes are high for the New York Rangers this winter. They have a talented team, seasoned with superstars like Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin, but the start of the season has left something to be desired. But at least no one can complain about Mika Zibanejad’s scoring production.
New success
The Swede has decided matches on his own and at times completely dominated. At the start of the season he set a record for Rangers, and tonight he stepped up again when it was needed most. The Arizona Coyotes are last in their division, but really gave the Rangers a game on home ice last night.
The Coyotes actually led the game, 2-1, but Artemi Panarin, who has been one of the NHL’s best players in the season opener, equalized in the second period. In the third period, the Rangers pushed for a winning goal, and then Mika Zibanejad stepped up when it was needed most. The Rangers got a chance on the power play with eight minutes left in the game, and then the Coyototes couldn’t hold off any longer.

Great hero
After a nice combination play, the puck ended up with the Swede, who near the goal managed to find it past Connor Ingram, formerly of Björklöven, in the Arizona goal.
– It was a great game and it was up to me to score. And it went in this time, says the Swedish center afterwards.
The win means Rangers move up to second place in their division, although with more games played by players than the competition.
For Mika Zibanejad, the goal meant the sixth of the season. In total, he has now scored twelve points in ten games, and thus starts the season absolutely brilliantly. Zibanejad is tipped, by many, to become the Swede who eventually breaks Håkan Loob’s Swedish goal record in the NHL, with 50 goals scored in one season. Right now, however, Zibanejad is on pace for a season with 46 goals scored.
