Colombian climber Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) abandoned the Tour of Italy shortly after the start of the 4th stage which connects Avola on Tuesday May 10 to Etna in Sicily. Lopez, pointed at the back of the race, gave up before the end of the first hour of racing in this 172 kilometer stage. The Colombian seemed to suffer from the left hip according to the announcement of the organizers. Lopez, 28, once stood on the podium in the general classification of the Giro (3rd in 2018). He then had less success in 2019 (7th) and especially in 2020, when he had abandoned on a fall on the first day, already in Sicily (time trial in Palermo).
