A total of 107 migrants who tried to cross the English Channel from France to England on Christmas Day have been rescued, French authorities have announced.
According to the statement, a total of twelve rescue operations were carried out along the northern coast of France, including rescuing passengers on a boat that had problems with the engine.
Since the turn of the year, at least 73 people have died in connection with trying to cross the canal, the highest death toll ever for the stretch.
