23 migrants have been found crammed into the back of a windowless delivery van, Swiss police say.
The Italian-registered vehicle was stopped in a routine traffic check along the highway near the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. According to the police, the migrants, aged between 20 and 50, had been traveling standing for hours without a break. They originally came from Syria, Afghanistan, India and Bangladesh.
The driver, a 27-year-old man from Gambia, has been arrested and is suspected of human trafficking.
