Within the Volkswagen Group, they have always been generous to their high income earners when it comes to choosing a company car.
Now, however, they are tightening the belts, and removing the possibility of ordering a Porsche as a company car for their top middle managers.

200 middle managers at Volkswagen are affected
The recent period has been financially straining for Volkswagen, and last year a savings program of several billion euros was therefore hammered out by the company.
The savings package includes cut personnel costs. Thus, the opportunity to order a Porsche as a company car for the 200 highest-ranking middle managers within the company expires.
The highest paid middle managers at Volkswagen often earn over one million euros, equivalent to just over SEK 11 million, a year. They have the option of having two company cars from any of the group’s brands at home in the driveway.

They still get the Porsche as a company car
The abolition of the Porsche benefit should save several million euros every year.
It is also considered important from a symbolic perspective, as it shows that it is not only on the factory floor that you try to save money.
Some who, however, are not affected by the savings program are the managers and board members at Porsche, with the CEO Oliver Blume at the head. They still have free rein to order a Porsche as a company car.

Middle managers sue Volkswagen
One could assume that the middle managers have an understanding of the importance of savings for the company.
However, BILD has received information that several lawsuits related to the Porsche ban have been submitted to the labor court in Braunschweig.
Volkswagen management has little understanding that their highly paid middle managers are so upset about their lost Porsche privileges.
The well-paid executives who really want to drive a Porsche can afford to get one on their own, they say.
