Mid-season patch buffs many classes, but players think two deserve more love

On June 17, the mid-season patch in Diablo 4 went live and brought with it many buffs for the five classes. However, some players believe that two classes in particular deserve a lot more love.

The sorceresses don’t have it easy in Diablo 4. In June 2023, the community saw the sorcerers as clear losers after a patch. In Season 3, the sorcerer class was really strong and dominated the leaderboards. And in Season 4, players noted that one of the class’s effects was broken and wasn’t working properly.

The mid-season patch brought some buffs for the classes in Diablo 4. However, some players think that sorceresses and druids in particular deserve a lot more buffs. On Reddit, players are discussing the topic and one finds it so unfair that he apparently wrote a song about it.

Which classes need buffs? On Reddit, user “KennedyPh” wrote on June 16 that players need a patch for the Monday patch. Wizards and druids should be made “great again.” The “micro-buffs” are simply not enough.

In the comments, users discuss the topic. “veradar” says: “Yes. More single target damage for both [Klassen].” And “Boonatix” is surprised that Blizzard listens to one feedback but not the other. The new item system is successful, but the class balancing is not at all.

“n8k-Primal” is sure that more buffs will come in Season 5. He writes: “There must be some important balance changes [in Season 5] otherwise why would they offer a PTR.”

In a blog post, the developers recently announced that Season 5 will again have a PTR (Public Test Realm).

The balance is not fair

A player writes a song about it: In another thread on Reddit, the user “Liggles” expresses his dissatisfaction with the mid-season patch in a song. It is apparently based on the theme song of the US sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” with Will Smith and also begins with the line “Now, this is a story all about how…”

However, this is not about how his life was turned upside down, like in the original song, but the class balance in Diablo 4. In his version, he talks about “how the classes were changed in such an unfair patch.”

An excerpt from the article:

As a few small buffs floated by, Barbarians became stronger, and we all asked, “Why?”
The druids looked around and wondered what they should do,
with tiny skill optimizations and no significant increase in power in sight. […]

The wizards stood there, still out of sight, with buffs so small that they made little difference. […]

Barbarians and hunters celebrate, druids are dazed,
Wizards try their best with a build variety so rare – but in Diablo 4 the balance just isn’t fair!

Here too, users are discussing patch 1.4.3 in the comments. The top comment comes from “Tormentor-“. He writes: “I was hoping the wizard would get a little more love.”

“Brief-Dragonfruit390” is optimistic and writes: “The buff for the Pulverizer Druid is actually very decent.” The post creator says that this still puts them “behind hunters and barbarians.” But “Brief-Dragonfruit390” thinks they are going in the right direction.

More was expected from the patch

What do experts say about the patch? Diablo expert and content creator Rhykker says in a YouTube video that they expected some love for wizards and druids. Druids are currently basically “absent in the endgame.” The “Pulverize build” has received buffs, but not enough to “push” in the pit.

Every class got “a little love, but it feels like barbarians got the most even though they don’t really need it.” Druids need damage buffs to “struggle with in the endgame.” The changes aren’t bad, but he expected more. He sees barbarians as big winners.

In a YouTube video, Diablo expert wudijo notes that the big winners of the mid-season patch are the Screwblade Huntress and Pulverize Druid builds – these builds “got the most of everything by far” and moved up a few places in the tier list.

He says that other classes are moving a little as a result of the patch, but not so much that the “overall landscape of meta builds” is changing. Barbarians are still the strongest, followed by hunters. They are followed by necromancers, druids and sorceresses. It is possible that the changes will result in new, strong builds.
