Microsoft shuts down three services on January 1 – how

The tech giant Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen.

The company is today one of the world’s largest and most influential companies in software, hardware and digital services.

Perhaps best known is Microsoft for its Windows operating system, which is used on millions of PCs worldwide.

Program in Windows

Anyone who has used a PC for an extended period of time is probably familiar with all the apps and programs available in Windows.

The web browser Microsoft Edge, the store Microsoft Store and the cloud service Microsoft OneDrive are some examples.

But three of the apps that have long been an important part of Windows will now be shut down, to the displeasure of many users.

Earlier in November, Microsoft went out on its own homepage that they will shut down the Email, Calendar and Contacts apps at the turn of the year.

From January 1, 2025, for example, you will not be able to send or receive emails in the Email app. However, you will still be able to read your existing emails for a period thereafter.

Therefore, the services are shut down

The reason for that is that Microsoft wants to move all users to the new Outlook app, where you can use Email, Calendar and Contacts in one and the same program.

After December 31st, you will be prompted to use Outlook when accessing any of the shut down apps.
