In most countries, Microsoft is increasing prices for the Xbox Series S in August, apparently in line with Sony’s price increase for the PS5.
The monthly subscription prices for Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate will also increase – starting in July, at least if you don’t already have a subscription.
Speaking to The Verge, Xbox Head of Communications Kari Perez said: “We have kept console prices stable for many years and have adjusted prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market.”

For the console you have to browse € 50 more from August. As far as the Game Pass is concerned, depending on the subscription model, it is 1 – 2 € more, which is due monthly.
This affects users who want to take out a new subscription, by the way, as early as July 6 (via The Verge). The new pricing for existing monthly Game Pass subscribers will not take effect until August 13th or September 13th.
If you have an annual subscription, the new price will not take effect until the next renewal after the period.
Since launching in 2017, Microsoft hasn’t adjusted pricing for Xbox Game Pass, emphasizing that it’s doing so regardless of its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
According to The Verge, Kari Perez said the pricing adjustments are “not related to the Activision Blizzard deal” and are intended to be “in line with local market conditions.”
The price increase will take place in July for the Game Pass and in August for the console. This will soon be followed by the release of Starfield, which should be available in Game Pass at the time of release.
