Microsoft fixes more than 70 bugs and flaws

If you use a Windows PC, install the February 2023 Patch Tuesday without delay: Microsoft fixes dozens of bugs and flaws for Windows 10 and 11 but also for Office, Edge, .Net and other products.

It’s a ritual that has become immutable: on the second of each month, Microsoft releases its famous Patch Tuesday, a set of bug fixes and security vulnerabilities for its various products. “Band-aids” and “medicines” which it is better to apply without delay to avoid problems – even if certain remedies sometimes do more harm than good, as we have been able to observe on several occasions… This is particularly the case for the edition of February 14, 2023, which, failing to celebrate Valentine’s Day with pretty little hearts, fixes more than 70 problems in Windows 10 and Windows 11, including three critical vulnerabilities – say zero day – which would already be actively exploited by hackers according to the experts…

Identified under the sweet references CVE-2023-21692, CVE-2023-21690 And CVE-2023-21689, the three flaws now corrected by Microsoft allowed hackers to grant themselves various rights and execute malicious code remotely on PCs (see the very technical details via the links). Note that the February 2023 Patch Tuesday does not only concern Windows: it corrects problems detected in other products of the publisher, some very general public such as Office, Edge or even .Net Framework, used in many PCs, d other more professional ones such as Visual Studio, 3D Builder, HoloLens or Azure. On the other hand, it should be remembered that it does not apply to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1: these old systems, now abandoned, are no longer entitled to updates, even for security. All issues discovered since Patch Tuesday January 2023 will remain in principle as they are.

As usual, the procedure for installing Patch Tuesday is very simple. Just go to Windows Update, via Windows Settings, look for the availability of updated months if they are not offered immediately, then click on the Install button. A reflex to adopt on the second Wednesday of each month!
