Microsoft corrects bugs of its last update

Microsoft has just published two optional updates for Windows 11 mainly with bug corrections, especially for audio and mouse problems, with some very anecdotal new products.

The year 2025 did not start under the best auspices for Windows users, with an update of January 10 which did not bring any functional novelty, but introduced several bugs ranging from the annoying to the downright blocking, especially for the mouse and external audio interfaces. Microsoft is therefore trying to correct the shooting by now publishing two updates of updates that should be part of the Tuesday patch next February, namely the KB5050094 for Windows 11 24H2 and the KB5050092 for Windows 11 23:2.

These two updates are completely optional and do not contain any security -related corrections, so there is no urgency to install them if you do not encounter any of the problems listed in the publication notes. Otherwise, you can get and install them by simply passing by the Windows Update update manager, and activating the option Receive the latest updates as soon as they are available in Parameters of Windows.

Windows 11 KB5050094 and KB5050092: the main corrections and improvements

You will find the detailed list of all changes and new features in the official publication notes of updates KB5050094 for Windows 11 24h2 And KB5050092 for Windows 11 23h2. In summary, here are the protruding points highlighted by Microsoft and the main bug corrections made by updates.

Corrected bugs

  • Auto-HDR: activation of this function, which is in Settings> System> Screen> Graphicscould cause excessive saturation of colors in certain video games. This problem is solved.
  • Audio and DAC interface: some peripherals with digital analogical converters (DAC), such as external sound cards and in particular those in USB 1.0, have not worked at all since the early January update. This problem is solved.
  • Mouse: the mouse cursor disappeared when placed in the text fields of certain applications, including internet browsers based on chromium. This problem is solved.
  • MOUSE: The displacement of the mouse cursor became jerky and irregular, even when the computer did no particularly heavy task or application. This problem is solved.

News and improvements

  • File explorer: a “new folder” command was added to the context menu during a right click on one of the elements of the shutter on the left of the explorer (the folder’s tree structure).
  • Settings: It is now possible to modify the Time zone In Settings> Time and Language> Date and time From an account that has not had administrator rights.
  • Windows Studio effects: when using an application compatible with Windows Studio effects (mainly those that use the webcam), an icon in the system status bar (right of the taskbar) allows you to launch the effects directly from Fast parameters.
  • Taskbar: the miniatures and the previews that appear when an icon in the taskbar has been improved, they are more clear and the animations more fluid.

Note that among the elements mentioned, only the corrections of the Auto-HDR and the audio cards and other DACs are immediately deployed for all users. The other changes, (and many others among those listed in the official notes), are the subject of a progressive deployment, that is to say that even by installing updates, all users do not will not receive at the same time. For example, for example, the “new folder” action of the context menu in the file explorer is not yet available, even after installation of the KB5050094 update on a PC with Windows 11 242h2.
