Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh chase a group of friends in a new horror film

While “Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2” is currently terrorizing moviegoers, there are several more horror films in the works that will see beloved cult characters from our childhood transformed into diabolical monsters. In one case we can even expect a shocker crossover in the style of Freddy vs Jason.

What kind of crossover is this? The genre website iHorror is said to have started production on “Mickey vs. Winnie” with Untouchables Entertainment. Behind the main characters is Winnie the Pooh (in German: Winnie Puuh), who is already successfully making cinemas unsafe as a horror character, and Mickey Mouse, who is popular in films, series and comics.

The horror film is about a group of friends who want to experience a thrill-filled vacation in the heart of a dark forest. What they don’t know: In the 1920s, two convicts fell victim to a curse right there.

Now these same criminals appear as twisted versions of Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh to hunt down the kids. Similar to the classic “Freddy vs. Jason” from 2003, there will ultimately be a bloody final fight between the two popular cult characters of our childhood.

There is no trailer for the new film yet. So here’s something to put you in a good mood – the trailer for Shaun of the Dead always works:

A Poohniverse modeled on Marvel

Hasn’t a Mickey Mouse horror movie already been announced? Two even. A low-budget slasher called “Mickey’s Mouse Trap” as well as another project that the producer of Terrifier 2 is said to be behind. “Mickey vs. Winnie” would be the third horror adaptation with the Disney icon.

The honey-slurping Winnie the Pooh is already much further along. “Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey” only received mixed reviews, but last year it grossed many times more than its production costs. That’s why the sequel is already showing in cinemas.

The third part is firmly planned, as well as an adaptation with Bambi, Peter Pan and Pinocchio. In the seventh film, everyone comes together for a monster finale, in the style of Marvel’s The Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU for short). At least that’s the plan announced so far.

Why does Disney allow this? The Maus company would certainly stop this if it were possible. However, some of the characters from our childhood in their original version are now so old that they have become common property and can therefore be used in exactly this version without the author having to grant permission or fees being charged.

Let’s look at the Mickey Mouse case. The character’s first appearance was in the 1928 film “Steamboat Willie”. The US copyright expired in January 2024. Shortly afterwards there were the first announcements of adaptations based on this version of Mickey.
