At least 53 people have died in the heavy forest fires that are ravaging the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii.
Mick Fleetwood’s restaurant and bar “Fleetwoods” was located on Front Street in the city of Lahaina but has now also burned down in what has been called the biggest natural disaster in Hawaii’s history.
The Fleetwood Mac drummer has lived on Maui for many years and confirmed on Thursday via X, formerly Twitter, that the restaurant had burned down:
“Maui and the Lahaina community have been my home for decades. This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable losses. Fleetwoods on Front Street has been lost and we are devastated, but our number one priority is the safety of our beloved staff and members of our team. My family and I share our heartfelt thoughts and prayers with the people of Maui. We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days and months and years ahead.”
