The one who will celebrate his 76th birthday on January 26 explained at the end of last year in the columns of the Parisian that it was his wife Anne-Marie Périer who pushed him to find the stage, when he would have preferred to stay away from it in order to devote himself to the theater. “Me, I have nothing to do with my return. For nothing! I didn’t want to come back… But I was taken in by my wife (…) she ended up persuading me. Anyway, she was threatening to leave me and go back to her brother… She blackmailed me!” Michel Sardou explained to the Parisian.

Michel Sardou begins his comeback: at almost 76 years old, the singer is preparing to go back on stage during a final (really?) tour, in 2023. Thirty dates have been announced: from October 3, 2023 at the Zénith de Rouen at La Défense Arena in Paris on March 16, 2024, via many major French cities such as Lille (October 17 and 18, 2023), Toulouse (November 25, 2023) and Lyon (December 19 and 20, 2023).
Proof of Michel Sardou’s public expectation: the concerts are already sold out. “I’ve never seen that, in eight hours, we sold 100,000 seats!” Rejoiced Michel Sardou at the microphone of BFMTV this Wednesday January 18, 2023. But then, what to expect from this new burst of concerts ? The cover of the singer’s hits, but differently, as he himself promises. “You will hear them again [ses tubes], but in a different way (…) I will do it in a certain way. People don’t expect it. What I want is to surprise them with what they already know,” he explains.
“We invented a system, I don’t think we’ve ever seen it in France (…) you’re going to be amazed. On the intros, on the way to orchestrate, to dress the song, to stage it, he explains, also announcing the presence of an orchestra and a “madness of staging”. “We will have twenty musicians, only new ones except my friend, my brother Pierre Billon, and choristers”, explained at the end of last year the singer to the Parisian. He then explained that his new concerts would be “a mash-up” of his “essential successes”, “a surprising version of Connemara and forgotten songs, like Let’s talk about you, about me and I remember a goodbye“, song which gave its name to this tour.
