But Michael Jordan carries a big secret about himself.
Which is now revealed by his own children and the tragic reason explained.
There is no talk of that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time and one of the world’s greatest athletes ever. “MJ” was gigantic in the 90s and the big idol for so many young people.

He enjoyed great success with the Chicago Bulls and won the NBA six times, was the NBA MVP on five occasions, the NBA Finals MVP six times, was selected to the All Star team in 14 different years and won the scoring league a total of 10 times during his career. It is an absolutely incredible track record that the American possesses.
Thanks to the success, Jordan has earned a huge amount of money and has been living the glamorous life ever since his playing career ended. In 2019, he bought a luxury yacht for a whopping 80 million dollars, roughly 870 million Swedish kronor, and named it “Joy”.

Tragic cause
But now son Marcus and daughter Jasmine reveal a secret about the father that not many people know about. Michael Jordan can’t swim.
– I don’t think many people know about dad. Nevertheless, he has recently bought a large yacht and already has two fishing boats. He’s always out at sea, but God forbid if he falls in, because he can’t swim. But apparently he can still survive, the son admits in the podcast “Separation Anxiety”.

There is a tragic reason why Jordan never learned to swim and therefore stays away from water. He describes it himself as his “greatest fear” and it stems from a terrible childhood trauma.
– One day I was out swimming with my best friend and we had so much fun jumping in the waves. But then the current became too strong so it dragged him along and he grabbed hold of me to keep from drowning. It is called the “death lock”, when a person can die and still hold something with their hand. I practically had to break his hand off to keep him from pulling me down too. I couldn’t save him and he died, the NBA star told a newspaper interview in 1992.

The nasty fatal accident left a deep mark on Michael Jordan and affected him from a young age.
– I was only seven or eight years old. That’s why I don’t go near water anymore. I don’t swim, I don’t get on boats without a life jacket and I’m certainly not into small boats. I don’t care what people think about it, he said in the interview.
– Everyone has a fear or phobia of something and for me it is water. I’m not in water anymore, I stay away from it.
