“When you experience something like that, there is never any peace,” Westerink explains. “You are always confronted with it, but after a while those moments become less.” Such a tenth commemoration is an acknowledgement, although it can also reopen old wounds. “Not everyone wants to be in the spotlight on such a day. And sadness remains: even after today you will remain someone who will forever miss a parent, child, sister, brother or friend.”
