Malmö FF were just seconds from exiting the Champions League qualifiers.
But in the sixth added minute of the second half, Nils Zätterström scored 3–3 against Greek league champions Paok, and the match went to extra time.
Nine minutes into extra time, team captain Anders Christiansen made it 4-3 on a tired Paok who is out of match form, after a fine solo raid and play by young Zätterström.
Malmö also opened the scoring in the match when Sebastian Nanasi headed in 1-0 in the tenth minute. The 22-year-old also scored MFF’s 2-2 equalizer after Paok turned the game around in the first half.
At half-time the score was 3-2 to the home team, which thus stood until the very last seconds.
Next, MFF will face Czech Sparta Prague in the Champions League playoff.
