Metro tickets will increase on this date hurry up and

You have until this date to stock up on metro tickets before their price increases in preparation for the Olympic Games.

In a few days, the Paris Olympic Games will disrupt the daily lives of the capital’s residents, starting with public transport lines that will be reinforced and adapted due to a significant increase in their use. Indeed, between 300,000 and 500,000 spectators will take the RATP metro, bus, tram or RER every day to get to the Olympic or Paralympic sites of Greater Paris.

Some busy lines like the 9, the RER A and the RER C will be reinforced by up to 70%, nearly 400 free shuttle buses will be offered to transport spectators to the Olympic and Paralympic sites, and finally, a “Transport Public Paris 2024” application has been set up to monitor traffic in real time and provide visitors with the “best route” to get around. However, operating such a global competition comes at a cost. While it had initially promised free transport during the Olympic Games, the Île-de-France region will increase the price of a metro ticket from 2.15 to 4 euros from Saturday, July 20, 2024. A significant increase!

So remember this date… You have until July 20 to stock up on metro tickets in booklets or day/week passes at the usual prices! Indeed, it’s not just the unit price that will increase during the Olympic Games period, which extends until Sunday, September 8 inclusive. The booklet of 10 tickets goes from 17.35 euros to 32 euros, the regional ticket from 5 euros maximum to 6 euros, the day pass from 16 euros to 20.60 euros and the 7-day pass from 30.75 euros to 70 euros.

The only passes whose price remains unchanged are the Navigo month and Navigo year, at 86.40 euros per month for all zones, tickets to travel to the two Paris airports (10.30 euros for Orly via line 14 and 11.80 euros for Roissy via RER B) as well as tickets purchased with a Carte Liberté+ (1.73 euros per trip). At the same time, the Paris 2024 Pass will be launched during the Olympic Games period, offering unlimited access to the transport network for a set period.

To stock up on tickets as cheaply as possible before the fateful date, opt for the Navigo Easy card at a unit price of 2 euros, rechargeable for free at terminals or on your smartphone, which allows you to store several books of 10 tickets on a plastic card or directly on your smartphone. Good to know, however: the limit is 30 tickets on this card. The other option is to simply transform your smartphone (Android or iPhone) into a Navigo pass via the Île-de-France Mobilités application.
