Metis artist to discuss art installation at JNAAG

Renowned Metis artist and sculptor Tracey-Mae Chambers is set to take part in the Judith & Normal Alix Art Gallery’s In Conversation art and ideas lecture on Thursday, Sept. 22 beginning at 7 pm

The Ontario artist will be joining the gallery virtually to talk about her #hopeandhealingcanada project – site-specific installations made with red acrylic yarn, set up in galleries, cultural and historical centers across Ontario in order to provoke thought and discussion on the subject of decolonization .

Chambers will provide details regarding her installation at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.

Her project is meant to illustrate connections among Indigenous, Inuit and Metis people with Canadians, with the yarn representing a fractured society and the color red representing blood, passion, courage and love.

Registration is required for those interested in viewing the lecture over Zoom or in-person live streaming. Registration for both is available at https://www.jnaag.ca/en/programs-and-events/lecture-series-art-ideas.aspx.
