Metal detectors should curb cheating at the university exam

In Värmland, where the test is conducted in Karlstad, Kristinehamn, Torsby and Arvika, 1,109 students are registered. This is an increase of around 100 students compared to the number who wrote the exam at the same universities last year.

Metal detectors in some locations

As an initiative to avoid cheating, UHR, the University and College Council has decided that metal detectors will be set up in certain places.

– It is security guards who carry out the checks in certain selected exam rooms, says Helena Pallin who is head of the department for educational support at Karlstad University.

Want to avoid spreading rumours

The detectors should help detect electronic equipment that could be used to cheat on the test. But the University of Karlstad does not know if the detectors will be used here.

– It is to protect the controls so that a rumor does not spread about where it will be, says Helena Pallin.
