Meta threatens to stop news

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Should the law be approved, news companies will be able to negotiate collectively with social media platforms about the conditions for news material to be shared on the sites.

Meta says it would rather remove news from its platforms than give in to “government-mandated negotiations that unfairly disregard the value we provide to news companies.”

Meta, headquartered in California, has previously made similar moves. Last year, news on the platform was blocked in Australia due to a new law forcing tech companies to pay for news. Later, Meta agreed with Australian publishers on a scheme.
