message of support from Brazilian women to Iranian women

The Brazilian football team arrived Wednesday (July 5th) in Australia, where it will participate in the Women’s World Cup, on board a plane on which was written a message of support for the women of Iran who have regularly protested against the wearing of the veil since the death in detention of Mahsa Amini in 2022. The plane landed on the tarmac at Brisbane airport with the inscription on its cabin in capital letters “NO WOMAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO COVER HER HEAD”. Portraits of Mahsa Amini and footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani, sentenced to 26 years in prison for his participation in the protests, also adorned the tail of the device. This show of support comes a few days after the announcement by Fifa that eight armbands defending various feminist causes, including gender equality or the end of violence against women, could be worn by players during the World Cup co-organized by Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
