Mercedes-AMG introduced the facelifted GLE 53 earlier this year, and now the company has announced a new plug-in hybrid version. The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Hybrid, scheduled to arrive in U.S. dealerships in 2025, is offered as both a traditional crossover and a sporty crossover coupe. The model includes a 443 hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, 134 hp electric motor and 31.2 kWh battery current. This setup gives the crossover a total output of 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. This is enough to enable the GLE 53 Hybrid to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 149 mph.

To put these numbers in perspective, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 has a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with mild hybrid technology that produces 429 hp and 413 lb-ft. However, the Integrated Starter Generator can increase 21 hp and 148 lb-ft. Considering the less impressive figures, it’s no surprise that the mild hybrid takes an extra 0.3 seconds to reach 60 mph. In addition to its plug-in powertrain, the 2026 GLE 53 Hybrid features distinctive elements throughout.
These apparently include a slightly revised front fascia that directs air to an additional heat exchanger. Mercedes said there are also new hybrid badges and revamped displays that show hybrid-specific information such as charge status and remaining electric range.
