Meow, several cats at this year’s Met Gala

Several celebrities chose to highlight Karl Lagerfeldt’s love of cats in their outfits at the Met Gala.

One of the fashion world’s biggest gala nights is the annual Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to raise money for the museum’s costume and fashion department.

At this year’s edition, the designer Karl Lagerfeld, longtime creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, was honored, and the dress code is, quite simply, “in honor of Karl”.

Living up to her stage name, Doja Cat came in a sparkly cat costume, complete with muzzle. According to Billboard it is a tribute to Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette.

Choupette, like his late owner, has lived a life of passion. Her Instagram account has 169,000 followers and according to her agent (yes, she also has one) the cat received an invitation to participate in the gala, which she declined according to the account.

Doja Cat was far from alone in choosing the cat track. Actor Jared Leto was unrecognizable until he took off his cat head on the red carpet, while a silver-sprayed Lil Nas X walked around yowling.
