Late in the evening a year ago, Nils “Einár” Grönberg was shot at close range outside an apartment gate in Hammarby sjöstad in Stockholm. The 19-year-old was one of Sweden’s most streamed artists. The murder was also internationally rewritten, and commented on from the highest political level.
Despite the determination to break the violence, the spiral has continued. The murder of Einár was one of 46 shootings last year, this year the number is already at 54, after Thursday’s shooting in Stockholm.
During the Friday evening, a memorial service was held in memory of the artist and there were many people there to light candles, play music and remember. Nellie tells, among other things, how much the artist’s music meant to her.
– He has helped me a lot through his music, she says.
